Our free sample thank you letter can guide you in expressing appreciation to a colleague for a networking opportunity, or thanking an interviewer for speaking to you about a potential job.
Begin your letter with a salutation that includes the person’s name. Thank them for their time. Be specific. Mention something about them, your plans or ideas, and perhaps what a next step will be. Offer contact information, and thank them again. Business letters typically close with “Sincerely,” and don’t forget to sign your name!
While it is appropriate to type a business letter on nice stationary (always hand-sign your name), a neatly handwritten thank you adds a personal touch. A free sample thank you letter will help you structure or word your letter, but you still have to do the writing! Review our examples below and don’t delay.
Dear Dan,
I appreciate the effort you made in introducing me to members of your engineering group last night. I was able to trade business cards with several of them after the meeting. I will be following up with them later this week and hope to land a few quotes.
I will keep you posted if any of these contacts come through for me. Thank you so much for your help and I hope you keep me in mind again if you have other meetings come up.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mr. Buchannan:
Thank you for spending so much time with me this morning about the Marketing Assistant’s position. It was great to meet your staff, especially Paul Bullard. I’ve admired his work for some time now. You are lucky to have such talent working toward a shared goal.
I believe my experience in Internet marketing fits well with B&L Industries’ technological direction. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Paul.
I can be reached by email, of course, but if it is easier for you to call, my cell number is 555-3843. I will contact you next week if I don’t hear from you before. Thank you for considering me for this position.
Sincerely,
